what to expect
I work with natural light so it really doesn’t take me long to be ready to start shooting, but I'll only get my camera out once your little ones are comfortable with me being there.
When I first arrive at your home I’ll ask to have a look around to find some lovely pockets of light for us to work in. Please don’t feel the need to do lots of housework before I visit.... you’ll have plenty on your hands already looking after your growing family. I am an expert at clearing space as we go :)
If we're meeting out and about, I may well take the opportunity to scope the location in advance of our meeting.

what to wear
Whatever you’re most comfortable in :)
Most of my families just want to feel like themselves and look back on the images and be recognisable. Often families like to pick a colour which everyone incorporates into their outfits, and this is a great way of creating images that really gel together.
For baby sessions, light, soft, muted tones and natural fibres work beautifully for timeless images, but a pop of colour is also good.
Very bold patterns and motifs should be avoided since this can be quite distracting in the images (even in B&W). It's best to avoid very dark colours because this can be harsh against peachy baby skin tones.
I don't tend to shoot outdoors Nov-Mar since it is too cold for little people, but if your session is taking place out of doors, then please layer up rather than use overcoats.
If you're unsure, feel free to pick out a couple of options on clothing and I will be more than happy to advise when I arrive!

For babies under a year old I usually recommend that the shoot takes place at your home so that your baby is in familiar surroundings with his or her favourite things nearby
If we're meeting on location with however, please come armed with a selection of favourite toys and books that you don't mind being part of the images.
My sessions are completely baby/child-led and once your little one has warmed up to me we’ll have lots of fun together with songs and play.
Your baby’s age will dictate what the flow of the shoot, as we may need to take more frequent breaks or move about more often to keep little one engaged.

Most of my families love to share their images with their loved ones. Hopefully you’ll have already given my Instagram page a like so (if you like) I‘ll be able to tag you in your preview photographs.
after the shoot
I will have your preview ready within 10 days and your main gallery within 4 weeks.
My editing style is very natural because I think babies are perfect just as they are - I prefer to enhance rather than over-process my images so that they still look like you!
In my processing I will remove any temporary blemishes such as spots, scratches and excess redness but leave any permanent marks/features alone. If your baby has a temporary birthmark (e.g a strawberry mark) and you’d prefer for it to be removed or faded please let me know in advance of my editing.
I present a mix of colour and B&W images in your final gallery depending on what I think works best for each image.
