what to expect from your family shoot
who I am
I'm a natural-light lifestyle photographer. A mummy. An outgoing-introvert.
I'm sensitive to how people are feeling which makes me strive to put people at ease (I get the fact that some people don't like having their photograph taken - including me!)
First things first - a nice cup of tea, a chat and a look around to find the rooms with the best light.
Then I will set you up in nice light with something natural to do (like having a cuddle, playing peek-a-boo, or looking at a book together) and wait for the magic to happen, photographing the action as it unfolds.
For me it’s about capturing the story of a family in personal surroundings, where the moments are real, authentic and nothing is forced.
Who I am not
Lifestyle photography is sometimes a hard concept to explain and there is no clear definition, but here goes...
NO portable studio and lights
Just me, my camera and mother nature's light. If it's a particularly dark day, I may even ask that we rearrange to get the best results for you.
No way. No cheese and no rigid posing. Just you and your family spending time together as you would on any day. If you're looking for a formal portrait I'm not the best choice for you.
No flower headbands, buckets or costumes to cutify your little one. Not a flowerpot in sight. Sorry... just not my style.
The backdrop I use is your home or mother nature's playground (if we're on location). There is beauty in every home, no matter how big or how small. It is after all YOUR home and in years to come it will have special significance in your memory as the home in which you raised your children.
If it sounds like I'm your kind of photographer, then I'm so excited to get to know you!
